Love in the Line of Duty

Every profession expects and demands to keep personal life aside and serve as per the requirements, especially when professions are as serious as doctors, nurses, or soldiers. Doctors and nurses save lives, whereas soldiers save their countries. Either way, both of these professions hold huge responsibilities on their shoulders. There is no way they can bring their personal biases or love interests. In the book “In The Dead of Night,” the situation is out of control because the patient, Michael Bransen, and the nurse, Tammy Mitchell, knew each other in the past, and a spark reignites within their hearts upon reunion. Let’s learn more about their love interest and what kind of relationship they had in the past.

The Link of Love and Duty

Tammy is a geriatric nurse at Grand Forks Hospital, and she has taken care of several people while catering to their individual needs and blurring the lines of professional duty and personal life in a good way. Amidst all that, Michael Bransen, a soldier in the Royal Canadian Dragoons, ends up in her care ward, and her past comes rushing back in front of her bare sight while she is still trying to process things. About forty years ago, their young selves were torn apart due to a certain family incident that involved the Canadian Mafia. Now, there is a possibility of healing old wounds and repairing what was broken.

Michael, recovering from an accident in Syria, finds himself not just battling physical pain but also the ghosts of his past. His father’s misguided attempt to pay off a gambling debt to a Canadian Mafia family led to their separation.

The Emotional Toll

Reconnecting with someone you once loved or suppressed your love for can be emotional and really complicated. You can’t make up your mind about whether or not you want them back in your life or if they feel the same way as you. There’s a flood of emotions rushing inside your head and mind. Tammy and Michael had the same reactions going on. Tammy had to balance her responsibilities as a nurse and deal with her resurfaced feelings for Michael.

Conclusion

In conclusion, love and duty do not mix because of personal commitments, but sometimes, due to unfortunate situations, exceptions are made. If you are interested in stories based on romance and suspense, then “In The Dead of Night” by Tammie Lynne is worth it. In this book, the last time Tammy and Michael were together was that fateful September night when she was twelve and he was fifteen. He disappeared with his mother and little brother, and she’d been left standing in the driveway, alone, hurting, and afraid her heart would never heal. She never forgot about him, and now after nearly forty years, they have been thrown back into each other’s lives because of the very same reason they had once been torn apart.
