My boss and his wife gave me a kayak to use this week! It had been in storage for a couple of years and was really gross.
Two of my coworkers helped me take it out of storage, load it on my car, and one loaned me straps to bring it home and clean.

Rats and such had made a nest in the front of the kayak, and there was large, icky you-know-what everywhere in it. Time for bleach!

Mold was in the large storage area as well, so I took it off and gave it a good disinfecting, too.

Once, it was scrubbed, the mold removed, and the rodent leavings (being nice here, this is a family blog) was removed, I put it back together and loaded it on the car.

Saturday morning, I headed to Canadian Tire and bought wheels for moving the kayak around. It’s much easier on my body.

I bought a life jacket on my way home from work Friday, so I’m ready for my adventures!

Happy Canada Day! I’m on Tuc-el-nuit lake this time. I love my life!
Sunday I was going to go to Vaseux Lake but it was soooooo windy, I decided against it. Without proper roof racks on my car, I didn’t want to try manhandling the kayak alone. I struggled against the wind on Saturday when putting it on the car.
I headed to dad’s instead and will see about kayaking on the river or perhaps Jewel Lake on Monday.
Hope you are all having a great weekend, too!
