Have you heard the story of Guy Fawkes or the rebels who wanted to burn the parliament down with the king and lords in it? 1605. Go look it up.

I guess it’s become a tradition to have a bonfire Nov 5 and hang a straw man then burn it in lots of communities.

I’ve never heard of it and when my Dad and I were invited to join the neighbors tonight I had to do an internet search about the story. Mind you the gentleman putting on the event tonight told a great story then did a poem.

We had dinner and entertainment tonight. I love this community. Great laughs and made new friends.

They were taking the straw man down to burn…

Clothing was all donated by different people. I gathered this is an annual event at this neighbor’s house.

And to think all Dad and I had planned was to eat ice cream with the homemade applesauce that we canned today. Glad we got interrupted and met more of dad’s neighbors instead.
