Driving to Dad’s last night I created a mental to do list of all the stuff we could do this weekend together. I mean let’s face it, my book is off to the proof reader and editor. My part is done for the moment and so I have taken a breather from it and put my pen aside for a couple days to spend time with dad.

Armed with my list in hand I was eager to share with Dad. Did I ever tell you I’m a list lover? A freak about keeping lists? No, well, now you know. However after we had coffee together this morning, Dad went out and this happened instead of my list…

Yup, you guessed it, his truck needed a new UJoint put in…so he was busy after the temp warmed up enough to chase the frost away.
I decided to go apple picking instead of doing stuff on my list too. I asked Dad if he could grab me a ladder and I could happily pick apples while he worked on the truck. That went over like a lead balloon of course. Since my accident over 3 and a half years ago he’s really babied me and made sure I didn’t over do anything. He decided he’d climb the tree and pick the apples and we filled the bucket in 10 min then he went back to the truck.

I decided to make applesauce with these lovely crisp apples. Alas, I went to get the jars out of storage and we’d apparently used all the jars canning corn last weekend… face palm moment. No problem, I should be able to find canning jars at Ace Hardware here in town right? Nope! And no one around to ask for help. So off to the grocery store I go. They didn’t have any either. Guess applesauce will have to wait till next weekend. Good thing Dad has cold storage for produce.

In the meantime I spent the day hanging out with Dad and laughing, napping, eating crisp fresh apples and now we’re going to have dinner of bbq river trout and watch a movie.
You’re probably wondering what happened to the list of things that I was thinking of doing this weekend. Still there but I’m ok with just winging it this weekend. Dad and I had a nice day of just hanging out and even got a couple things done that needed doing. Like truck repaired, laundry and house cleaned.

Remember there is always going to be a list to keep you busy, but there is only this moment with your loved ones. So just sit back, relax and enjoy being together. Hold on to those moments and make great memories. You’ll never regret not completing your list but you might regret missing the moments.
Good night!
