Turned on the radio this morning on my way to work and heard the gentleman talking about the best Christmas gift to give. He mentioned something about celebrities but I tuned him out because I got thinking of what was the best Christmas gifts I’d ever received.

Right away I thought back to last Christmas when my Dad gave me book ends he’d made me.

Yes, they look like pieces of firewood but they are more. He cut them, sanded, and verathaned them. I love them! Heavier than they look too.

Then I thought back to my favorite scarf that my mom gave me the last Christmas she was alive.

A handmade scarf.

I’ve received other gifts from others in my family, like my son made me handmade sock snowmen and other precious items. I won’t bore you with them all.

I guess what I am saying is, for me the best Christmas gifts seem to be the handmade ones. I even love giving handmade gifts. I’ve made afghans, slippers, scarves, sweaters, cookies… you get the idea.

Oh the fun of handmade gifts.
